Wilkie, Dolphins dominate to win 3rd straight state title

Hilton Head Prep’s girls golf team broke 300 for the second consecutive day and ran away with a third consecutive SCISA state championship, finishing 108 shots clear of the nearest challenger.

The Dolphins followed up an opening 297 with a 298 on Tuesday at Orangeburg Country Club, finishing the 36-hole event with a total of 19-over-par 595. Porter-Gaud (703) was second, followed by Trinity Collegiate (720) and Ashley Hall (724). Hilton Head Christian Academy (856) placed 10th among 13 teams.

All five Dolphins finished in the top 15, with sensational sophomore Bridget Wilkie leading the way. After opening with a 2-under 70 and taking a two-shot advantage into the final round, Wilkie made two birdies and two bogeys in a steady round of even par to win the individual title by four shots over Carolina Academy’s Hannah Altman. Wilkie made only four bogeys in 36 holes — and nothing worse — and countered them with six birdies in a stellar performance.

HHP’s Camila Burnett finished third at 3-over 147, and teammate Olivia Wilkie (149) tied for fourth. Antonina Morgan placed ninth at 157, and Kathryn Schaefer was 15th at 165 to round out the Dolphins’ dominant lineup. HHCA’s Jojo Wiktor tied for 16th at 168.
